Meet Your Doula
Before having a baby, I've had the opportunity of competing in some of the higher levels in my sport and the honor to help coach and prepare others. So when it came to be my time, I knew exactly what to do. I treated birth like it was about to be the biggest competition of my life - I was dedicated, disciplined and confident only to be met with providers that doubted me. That didn't see me for me and just wanted to move me along their system.
And this led my journey into birthwork..
In martial arts, who you have in your corner can make or break you, so I started my search for my birth team. I wanted at least one person that I could trust by my side. So I interviewed doulas, in case I wasn't able to switch providers. I was blessed that I ended up finding my midwives that understood my preferences as an athlete and individual.
At the end of the day, I just needed people that believed in me. After my home birth, I had many women in our community coming to me for support, advice and resources for their pregnancies. I thrived in this space and decided to go through a Doula training to be able to better serve women .
